Michelle Joseph

Michelle is a Geelong based Mental Health Social Worker and Art Therapist who offers creative therapy to children and adults who want to maintain a healthy emotional and spiritual wellbeing and some who may be experiencing a spectrum of social, physical, emotional and psychological issues.

Since childhood, Michelle had a natural desire to help people and explore the connection between mental health and art. Michelle has been creating art for over 25 years and has spent the last 7 years working with the most vulnerable population groups in our society, in particular young people and families experiencing trauma and involved with the child protection system. This has involved creating trauma-informed, holistic care for individuals and families as well as increasing awareness and capacity within the community to keep everyone safe and reduce further harm.

Michelle also comes with experience providing one to one counselling and art therapy to people who are neurodivergent, coping with challenging experiences and experience mental health comorbidities such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders and bipolar disorders. All of these experiences have strengthened her knowledge in human development, evidence-based approaches to mental health and societal issues, ecological systems and how all of it interacts with the body, mind and soul.
